Cutcombe Wood is accessed from the A396, a picturesque route from the north Somerset coast to mid Devon passing through the historic town of Dunster and the highest village on Exmoor at Wheddon Cross.
The pure air of Cutcombe Wood has encouraged a variety of woodland flora. In the grassy glades where a footpath runs along the southern edge of the woodland, the sunlight penetrates the tree canopy giving rise to foxgloves and primroses, along with the occasional 'Early Purple' Orchid. Tree species are predominantly mature spruce and western hemlock with the occasional oak.
The woodland provides a secluded habitat for wildlife and visitors are likely to see red deer and hear the distinctive sound of woodpeckers at work in the Spring. There are also stoat and weasel in the area although sitings of these elusive creatures are far less likely.
Nearby is the attractive market town of Dunster, dominated by its Norman castle. Today this thriving market town has a range of everyday facilities along with a working water mill.
Cutcombe Wood is ideally located for a base in which to camp and explore Exmoor National Park
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

To find Cutcombe Wood head south on the A396 from Dunster. After passing through Timberscombe proceed for approximately 2 miles before reaching a series of sharp bends, immediately after which is a small turning to the left to Cutcombe. Proceed past this turning approximately 500 yards and the entrance to Cutcombe Wood is via a woodland track from the road marked by a 'Woodlands For Sale' signboard. There is room to pull off the road onto this track where you will need to park in front of a locked gate and continue on foot up the track. After about 200 yards there is a clearing with ride stops on either side. (the future owner of the wood will be able to park here) Follow the footpath off to your right and after a further 300 yards you will find the entrance to Cutcombe Wood.
Heading north from Wheddon Cross on the A396 look out for the 'Woodlands For Sale' signboard after approximately half a mile on your right on a straight section as the road descends the hill and follow instructions as above.
