Luckwells Wood is dominated by fine examples of mature spruce and western hemlock interspersed with occasional oaks and sycamore; affording a prospective owner a fine opportunity for small scale family forestry
Although steep in parts there is still plenty of scope for camping and wildlife conservation as the relatively isolated location and undisturbed habitat encourage a variety of small woodland mammals along with the largest of the British land mammals, the red deer. The more patient wildlife enthusiast may even see the usually retiring stoat or weasel.
There is convenient access from the road onto a little used bridleway that runs alongside Luckwells wood.
The area of Exmoor National Park around Luckwells Wood consists of the gentle undulations of the Brendon Hills. These mineral rich foothills of Exmoor were once mined for iron ore and characterised for generations by traditional farms and numerous small villages. It is however only a short way west that the cultivated farmland gives way to the rugged moorland landscape, rising to the highest point of Exmoor at Dunkery Beacon before falling into the Bristol Channel at Porlock and the North Somerset coast.
Luckwells Wood provides a great opportunity to own a unique piece of our landscape and rural heritage as well as providing a base to explore some of the most dramatic and diverse scenery in England.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

To find Luckwells Wood head south on the A396 from Dunster. After passing through Timberscombe proceed for approximately 2 miles before reaching a series of sharp bends, immediately after which is a small turning to the left to Cutcombe. Proceed past this turning approximately 500 yards and the entrance to Luckwells Wood is via a woodland track from the road marked by a 'Woodlands For Sale' signboard. There is room to pull off the road onto this track where you will need to park in front of a locked gate and continue on foot up the track. At this point Luckwells Wood is to your right although for the easiest access continue 200 yards until a clearing with ride stops on either side where you will find the entrance to Luckwells Wood on your right.
Heading north from Wheddon Cross on the A396 look out for the 'Woodlands For Sale' signboard after approximately half a mile on your right on a straight section as the road descends the hill and follow instructions as above.
