A beautiful Chiltern wood in a most desirable location, Tillys Wood forms part of extensive semi-natural ancient woodland known as Bensgrove Common and Abbotts Woods. Tucked away from the busy world, the woodland forms part of this larger area and has all the benefits and protection of being part of a large wood. Buzzards can be seen resting in the woodland canopy and if you are quiet you may see one of the secretive Munjac deer who live within the wood. Foxes, badgers and rabbits are also present and if you look carefully their signs can be seen. Tillys Wood has numerous tall straight mature beech trees, approx 60 years old, which were probably planted after the harvest in the 1940s and are now impressive specimens. At the time of planting the timber would have been used for wheel spokes. Under the beech there are numerous holly trees with an occasional birch and oak. Small glades offer plenty of places to camp or picnic.
Bluebells make the most spectacular display in spring. The woodland has gentle slopes, with access all round and is set in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty a designation which recognises the beauty of the area, characterised by extensive beech woodlands and chalk hills.
Access is for all times with and without vehicles along a woodland track as shown green on the plan.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
