Tranquil and secluded tree-lined and reed-fringed lake set in the Somerset levels and surrounded by picturesque grazing land. An ideal site for gentle fishing, occasional wildfowling or for use a as nature reserve. Bird life can be seen on the web by clicking here. The land and lake are situated in the flat fertile valley of the River Brue and are part of the Westhay Moors Site of Special Scientific Interest (click for link to Natural England (aka English Nature) and info on the SSSI). The access is across the 'sleeper' bridge, and along the grass track. As with most lakes created in the region, this lake is the result of peat diggings and subsequent colonisation of waterplants and lakeside trees and shrubs.
