A rich variety of mature deciduous trees including beech, oak and ash can be found within Willow Wood which is considered to be ancient and semi natural having been continually wooded since at least 1600.
The woodland floor is home to ever-changing ground flora throughout the year, from snow drops and bluebells to pignuts and wood anemones. Fallen trees, as well as providing an abundant source of wood fuel, provide ideal habitat for a variety of fungus from shaggy inkcaps (coprinus comatus) to the slipper toadstoll (crepidotus mollis) pictured below.
Willow Wood enjoys gated access to a parking area direct from the highway, providing a convenient base for forestry projects and further exploration.
The surrounding area near Crickley Hill is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), with a range of habitats from unimproved limestone grassland to mature beech woodland, it is also of major geological interest due to the limestone outcrops around its boundary.
Nearby Cirencester, known as the "Capital of the Cotswolds", is steeped in Roman history with attractions from a Roman Amphitheatre to the nearby Chedworth Roman Villa. The Corinium Museum in a rich source of information on the local history. Cheltenham, approximately 5 miles to the north is, along with Cirencester a major market town.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

From the south / Cirencester and the M4 and from east / Gloucester and the M5 follow the A417 until the Air Balloon roundabout named after the roadside pub that bears its name and follow the signs to Stow and Oxford along the A436. The wood is immediately on your right hand side and a 'Woodlands For Sale' sign marks the access point from the road where there is space to pull up in front of a metal five-bar gate.
