Butterbeare Wood - SOLD, Devon - Over 4 ¼ acres, £50,000

Butterbeare Wood - SOLD

Butterbeare Wood offers the best of both worlds: a young (over 10 years old) planting of native broadleaved species including oak, ash and cherry, fringed on two sides by broad areas of mature trees, being mainly oak but with ash, willow and other species also present.

The young planting was established under the woodland grant scheme and there is a period of about 3 years of the scheme left to run, providing a modest income to help with the management of the woodland. Broad grassy rides and tracks criss-cross this part of the wood.

To the south and west of this planted area are mature trees, providing a contrasting habitat and a ready source of firewood.  All along the western boundary of the woodland is a stream which provides yet more variety of habitat.

Roe deer can often be seen in this part of the woodland. Jays [which love the acorns], woodpeckers and many smaller birds are constantly flying and hopping between the branches overhead. At ground level ferns, bracken and fungi abound.

Butterbeare Wood offers a richness of habitats, each constantly changing as the seasons pass.
