You are here: Home > Buying a Wood > Cornwall and West Devon > Trelawne Wood
Trelawne Wood lies along the eastern arm of a large, T-shaped area of woodland which occupies a secluded valley, not far from the south Cornish coast.
There are good, broad and level tracks running close to the northern and southern boundaries, with a smaller track leading up through the woodland and linking the two larger tracks. Along the lower track, which is the main access into the woodland, there is a parking/passing place. There is also a parking and turning area close to the woodland boundary in the NE corner.
Between the lower track and the stream which forms the northern boundary to the wood, there are ash and Norway spruce which were planted in the mid-1950's.
Above the upper track and up to the southern boundary fence, which borders open farmland, there are mixed broadleaves and Japanese larch. Some of the planting is also from the 1950's, with further planting carried out in 1991.
The area between the two tracks was felled some years ago and is now repopulated through natural regeneration, the main species being birch and sweet-chestnut, with some conifers. The shrub layer includes broom and gorse whilst below there are bluebells, ferns and bracken.
Being set in such a peaceful location and surrounded by further areas of woodland and farmland, there is little to disturb the rich and varied wildlife which inhabits the woodland. If you are quiet you may be lucky to see the resident roe deer family as they browse the vegetation.
The nearby village of Pelynt has a good range of stores, pubs and accommodation, whilst many of the most attractive spots in this part of Cornwall are within easy reach. Trelawne Wood would make an ideal base for exploring this wonderful part of Cornwall.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

From Looe:
Note 1: Hall Barton is a working farm with livestock and farm vehicles likely to be moving around the yard. Please take great care when driving along the access lane and please ensure that you close all gates securely
Note 2: Delightful as it is, driving through Looe, particularly during the holiday season, can be a bit slow. An alternative would be to follow the A38 west to Dobwalls. At the roundabout take the left turn [signed to St Austell] onto the A390 for about 2 miles, then at East Taphouse turn left onto the B3359. This will bring you into Pelynt from the north
Satnav/GPS note: the postcode PL13 2LG is for Hall Barton Farm and is the point shown by the red dot on the two location maps
