Autumn Mist wood - Just under 4½ acres, £35,000

Autumn Mist wood

Autumn Mist wood consists of twenty to thirty year-old Douglas fir trees and a well-established Hazel coppice.  It is in a stunning location, which is private yet accessible. There are good internal tracks and the wood is easily reached via a beautiful walk through surrounding woodland.

The woodland really must be seen to appreciate its fantastic setting.

Umberleigh is a quiet village set around the old three-arched Umberleigh bridge, by the river Taw (home of Tarka the Otter). Umberleigh has a village Post Office, Tea Rooms, Railway Station and a popular pub.

The woodland is only 6 miles from Barnstaple on the A377 with the towns of South Molton and Torrington 8 miles away on the B3227.  Umberleigh is served by the Tarka line train with wonderful views to Umberleigh Station. Trains run from Barnstaple to Exeter every hour.

The villages of Chittlehampton, Chittlehamholt and Atherington are only two miles in each direction from the bridge, and all well worth a visit

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Directions

Heading North on A377 take a right turn to Umberleigh by 'The Rising Sun' pub. Continue over the bridge and take first right turn by the Tea Rooms.

Continue past Post Office, over the railway crossing and on for approx. two miles, following signs to Warkleigh. When you reach Warkleigh, look for a farmhouse and a large church on your right. About 100 metres after this turn right at Pool cross, sign posted 'Pool' (a no through road). Follow the track down for around 200 metres until it splits into two.

If you have a car you will need to park to the left just before the split, making sure you don't block access to the field gate and the lane itself. If you have a 4x4 or the ground clearance you can continue.

Follow the track straight on down the hill, passing the 'woodlands for sale' sign on the first gate to the right, to where the river crosses the track. Park to the left just after this.

Enter the first gate at the bottom of the hill and follow the track until you see the sign for Autumn Mist wood where there the track becomes two separate ones. The best places to access the wood is up the hill to the turning area on the left into the coppice or carry on to the end of the track you are on until the 2 beautiful oaks.
