Hares Down Wood - SOLD, Devon - About 2 ⅓ acres, £29,000

Hares Down Wood - SOLD

Hares Down Wood is an upland oak woodland in the Devonshire heartlands with well spaced trees. It has good access from a quiet country lane, is very peaceful and ideally suited for family camping, wildlife enjoyment and small scale forestry projects. The ease of access to the woodland make it suited for a camper van.

Birds such as woodpeckers, tree creepers and long tailed tits are to name but a few of species that can be observed here. Many mammals frequent the area including red and roe deer, both of which enjoy grazing on the bilberries in the summer. There are signs of badgers travelling through leaving their distinct tracks - they are creatures of habit and therefore use the same routes to travel over and over leaving a well worn path.

The woodland is named after one of the local Moors of Hares Down. This and the surrounding moors such as Knowstone and Rackenford are Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). These nature reserves are managed in conjunction with the Devon Wildlife Trust for threatened species including butterflies such as the Marsh Fritillary, Pearl- bordered and the Silver-studded Blue. Please note Hares Down Wood is not classified as SSSI so all the usual restrictions that apply to SSSI does not effect this woodland.

Hares Down Wood has access along the northern boundary via a shared forestry track. It has a useful private second entrance track along the southern boundary.

Nearby the A361 North West to Barnstaple gets you to the rugged north Devon coast with its popular surfing beaches of Croyde or Woolacombe, and Westward Ho! is within a 45 minute drive. Also Exmoor National Park offers fantastic walking and cycling opportunities and is only about 10 miles from the woodland.

Particulars and plans were prepared by our local manager, Stuart Brooking.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
