Hornshaynes Wood is set in a fantastic wooded area that, despite it's easy access a few miles from Honiton and Sidmouth, is a peaceful haven with only the sounds of nature to break the silence. The wood is a mix of conifer such as Spruce and Western Red Cedar alongside some mixed broadleaves such as birch and willow giving a different feel once in the wood. There is a natural spring running through the wood, giving a water supply as well as an increase in biodiversity, and the sound of running water in places.
Other features includes a traditional Devon hedge bank lined with established oak, birch and holly trees and forestry tracks leading into different areas of the wood. A beautiful clearing is found in the centre of the wood giving a perfect spot for setting up your woodland camp area.
A variety of wildlife can be found within the wood. Many different types of fungus are found in the autumn months. Due to the variety of habitat areas within the wood, from clearings to the conifer trees, to wet wooded areas, may different flora species are found in the spring and summer including wood sorrel, known in folklore as 'sleeping beauty' and the 'white goddess'. Fallow Deer can sometimes be observed in the woodland and the open meadow that adjoins it. Indeed there are stunning views of the local area from the edge of Hornshaynes Wood.
Hornshaynes Wood gives the owner a great place for camping and family forestry. It is a great place for wildlife watching, painting and photography and a perfect retreat.
Hornshaynes Wood is located in a beautiful area near Ball Hill, which is convenient for the Jurassic coastline. The coastal towns of Sidmouth and Lyme Regis are both nearby. The market town of Honiton is just a ten-minute drive providing a good range of shops and a train station.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

From Honiton, take the A375 towards Sidmouth. Continue for about 2 miles and turn left opposite the Hare & Hounds Public House. Carry along this road and take the second left at Roncombe Gate cross. Proceed for a short distance and take the first left signposted Farway.
Follow the road down the hill for around a mile where you will see a track to your right with a 'Woodlands for sale' sign on the gate.
Go through the gate and follow the track until the next metal gate. Climb carefully over this gate (the owner will get a key for the padlock) and follow this track all the way through the woodland until you come to a crossroad in the track. A sign saying 'Goyle wood' will be in front of you. Take the track left, down the hill and you will see the Hornshaynes Wood sign immediately on your left.
