Sweetcombe wood lies a short distance from the coast which forms part of the Jurassic Coastline. The whole area is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The nearest village to the wood is Sidbury. The village takes its name from the early Iron Age hill-fort to the South West, known as Sidbury Castle, the largest earthwork in the district. The church of St Giles in the village is one of the most interesting in Devon. Restoration work on the chancel in 1898-9 revealed a Saxon crypt underneath, the precise date of which is unknown. The current structure is largely Norman.
Three miles towards the coast is the seaside town of Sidmouth, a bustling town hosting annual international folk festivals.
Sixteen miles to the West lies the catherdral city of Exeter with excellent M5 motorway and rail links.
The wood is a mixture of broadleaf and conifer trees so has both forestry and amenity potential. There is also some coppice areas. Clearings could be made along the Eastern boundary to provide the owner with stunning views over the locality and even one of the sea!

From the A30 at Honiton, follow signs for Sidmouth and Honiton town centre, joining the A375. Follow this road for 5 miles after signs for Sand House. Take the next turn on the left just before entering the village of Sidbury. Take the next right, follow the road up the hill and look out for the second turning on the right. Park here, leaving access to the gate.
This is the track down to the woods. The purchaser will be given an access code but for now walk down the track for about three quarters of a mile until you reach a gate with ‘Goldovia’ upon it. Go through the gate and turn left down to a stile where you can enter the wood.
The boundaries are indicated in red.
