Set in the beautiful Taw Valley, this wonderful meadow is a fascinating habitat that supports a multitude of birds, small mammals and amphibians. Screened from the road by a band of woodland, this river valley wildflower meadow is a marvellous opportunity for conservation, photography and a great camping spot for exploring the north Devon coast. A suntrap in summer with lovely views of the Taw Valley, there is access and parking.
Taw Meadow is within a 15-mile drive of the historic pannier market town Barnstaple that has excellent shopping and dining facilities. A further 15 minutes and you reach the amazing coastline, which includes Saunton, Braunton and Croyde. These beaches are perfect for family days out or for great surfing

From Barnstaple, head south along the A377. Pass Portsmouth Arms Station and, keeping the railway and the river to your left, the wood is about 1 ½ miles beyond the station on the left. Look out for the Woodlands for Sale sign and park in the lay-by shown in the plan.
