Osyth Wood, Buckinghamshire - Nearly 4 acres, £47,000

Osyth Wood

Osyth Wood was planted between 1996 and 1998 and is a great opportunity to create a perfect "English" woodland set in an attractive rural setting in the lightly wooded Vale of Aylesbury.

The woodland is well stocked with both oak and ash trees. These could over the next decade be thinned randomly to create not only an excellent supply of hard wood logs but more importantly to allow the trees to continue growing and create a natural feel to the woodland. Establishing a glade within the woodland would also increase biodiversity.

A good variety of other broadleaf trees are found throughout the woodland these include hornbeam, cherry, field maple and sweet chestnut.

The woodland is set at the far end of a larger area of private woodland and has its own internal tracks along the southern and northern boundaries. A footpath runs along the western edge of the woodland and this has been fenced to ensure the rest of the woodland remains private.

Wildlife known to be present include hares, muntjac deer, squirrels, buxzzards and a large badger set is found halfway along the western boundary.

As you enter the woodland via a ride stop walk down a very gentle slope and you will find an opening in an old hedge, through this gap you will be able to enter the main area of woodland. A bench has been placed here, please do take some time to sit here and take in the atmosphere whilst observing and listening to the wildlife.

An open area at the southern edge of the woodland is both sheltered and a sun trap and makes a great place to rest or set up camp. The wood is mostly level with just the gentlest of slopes in places, a perfect place for family forestry.

Accessed is good for vehicles much of the year, whilst in the wetter periods owners can park their vehicles in the parking area by the top gate and then take a short walk to Osyth Wood.

The wood is named after St Osyth who was born in nearby Quarrendon and was buried in Aylesbury in the 7th century.

Easily found, located just off Dunton Road in the village of Stewkley and being under six miles from the centre of Leighton Buzzard and ten miles from Aylesbury it has great possibilities for anyone looking for a country retreat.

As with most of the woodlands we sell there is a restrictive covenant to protect the woodland and neighbours' peace and tranquility. Any visitors or guests must be accompanied by the owner.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
