Ring Wood, Essex - About 2 ¼ acres, £25,000

Ring Wood

This is an opportunity to own a beautiful and manageable-sized ancient woodland .  Ring Wood is easily accessible, set on level ground and is an ideal sanctuary set in the middle of a larger woodland known as Chantry Wood which is privately owned  and offers seclusion and tranquillity. The woodland is considered an "important" Essex Woodland.

Approaching Ring Wood along an attractive woodland ride you pass through other areas of private woodland it becomes apparent that you are entering a special place. It's a diverse wood without structured planting and has a good mix of trees including some outstanding coastal redwood examples; with silver birch, oak, hornbeam, and pines adding plenty of variety.  Easy to walk through yet with plenty of areas of bracken and brambles which give shelter for the local wildlife. One of the wonderful aspects of this wood as a whole is the stock of large mature specimens.

The woodland forms part of a much larger woodland wildlife habitat.  Muntjac deer, hares and squirrels can be found along with over 30 species of bird.  Numerous woodcock have been sighted here as the habitat appears ideal for them.

Ring Wood has plenty of places to just sit or picnic whilst absorbing the atmosphere, listening to the numerous birds chattering as they go about their business.

Conveniently located - just ten minutes from the A12 and 30 miles from the M25.  There are excellent local services including pubs and a village store within a short drive.

Because the woodland is so special it has a tree preservation order on it and is protected by the local authority.  This simply protects the woodland and does not prevent woodland management -free guidance is available from the Forestry Commission and other organisations

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Directions

From the exit of the A12 sign posted Witham go past the petrol station then straight over the roundabout onto Hatfield road and then after about a quarter of a mile turn right into Maltings Lane. Continue straight over the roundabout until you stop at the 'T' junction of Spring Lane. Turn right and continue under the bridge until you come to some part-time traffic lights turning left into Blue Mills Hill sign posted Wickham Bishops / Golf Club. Carry on over the narrow river bridge and up the hill with woodland on your left. Just before the no overtaking sign there is a wooden five bar gate with our sign attached. Go past this gate and park at the third gate. This is a double wooden gate with a double metal gate 10 meters behind it and runs alongside the first house. Please park to one side of the gate so as not to block the access and please watch your safety on the road. Climb over the gates with care and walk up the ride. After 50 metres you will reach a hard standing on the left, carry on up the main ride and after 200 metres you will reach a major + junction. The entrance to Ring wood is directly in front of you and the wood boundaries are indicated in lilac.
