A private, peaceful mature woodland set high up in the Mid-Wales countryside, giving views over the River Ithon, to the hills in the distance. There is a large hard standing area near the entrance which is suitable for picnic and camping use and woodland activities. Castle Vale Wood is an ancient woodland site situated on a west-facing slope with some interesting very old castle ruins nearby. The trees are mainly European Larch and Noble Fir, as well as some old Oaks. On our visits there the wildlife was thriving, with Buzzard Hawks, Badgers and a Fox. Llanbister, Llandrindod Wells and Newtown are the nearest towns within easy reach.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
