Barlow Wood - SOLD, Shropshire - Over 7 acres, £59,000

Barlow Wood - SOLD

This woodland can be accessed through a gate directly off the road, which leads to the entrance of two woodlands. It is located on the right hand side inside the main entrance.

At the start of the wood is a path which leads through the woodland. It meanders left and right and under a thick canopy of holly trees. This provides a sense of adventure as you explore through the woodland. The path then reaches a clearing.

The clearing is very flat and therefore very suitable for many different woodland activities. Camping is a great woodland activity which can be carried out here as it is a large and level area. The clearing is surrounded by rowan and silver birch trees with other species scattered around it. It also contains a smooth, rustic and hand crafted bench which is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view of the woodland.

Within this woodland, there are many signs of wildlife. There are signs that fallow deer are present, and if you are lucky you may see family groups passing through the wood. Many different bird calls can be heard as you walk along the path, and you may well catch sight of pheasants.

A small quarry is also inside this woodland and acts as another clearing because of its level ground. This area is also very suitable for woodland activities. This particular part of the woodland has a more secluded feel due to the raised earth on the edges of the clearing. It provides privacy and has great potential to be improved further.

Oak, ash, sycamore, rowan, beech, hazel, holly and silver birch are all trees which can be found throughout the woodland with a great deal of ease. Some of the plants and flowers seen here include wild raspberry, primrose, bluebells, cow parsley, wood sorrel and many varieties of ferns and bracken.

Towards the north eastern boundary there is a natural wetland area. This area shows signs that some time ago there was once a large pond. There could be a potential woodland project to re-instate this pond by clearing the trees and vegetation and re digging the pond.

The wildlife in this area is also very diverse because it includes fallow deer, fox, rabbit, badger and pheasant. Different species of birds are also found in this wood, such as woodcock, buzzard, sparrow hawk, owl, woodpecker, jay and songbirds.

This woodland is a stone's throw from Newport and 13 miles from Telford. Nearby there is the Lilleshall Abbey ruins and the Aqualate Mere National Nature Reserve. Despite the name of the area, Puleston Common, this land is not registered as common land, and there are no public access rights.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
