Blakemere Wood in West Cheshire is a broadleaf woodland of mainly birch with other tree species scattered throughout including both oak and rowan. The terrain is fairly even with mostly level ground and fine sandy soil.
Access to the wood is through a gated entrance from the western side of Kennel Lane. From here a vehicle track heads west and into a open clearing where the woodland owner could park their vehicle. From the clearing, the track continues west and then quickly curves around to the south. There is a ride-stop across the track indicating the entrance into Blakemere Wood, where a vehicle could also be parked inside the wood. There is also a second easy access point from further down Kennel Lane where a public footpath enters the wood at the southeast corner. An old drainage channel can be found running the length the southern boundary - over the years this has become filled in and it now remains as a feature in the woodland.
There are numerous paths that crisscross the woodland. Most of the main paths are marked on the plan but there are lots more that can be discovered while walking in the woodland. There are three public footpaths through the wood, one follows the old drainage channel along the southern boundary, one is near the west boundary and one crosses the wood from north to south towards the eastern end of the woodland.
To safeguard its value as woodland and wildlife habitat, this woodland is protected by a Tree Preservation Order. Normal woodland management can still be carried out after agreeing a management plan with the local council. We would be happy to help you with this.
A large depression in the centre of the wood is all that remains to show the location of an old opencast sand mine.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Boundaries:
The east boundary follows the edge of Kennel Lane. The southern boundary follows an old drainage channel. The west and north boundaries follow existing paths and fences, and in places are marked with posts. Take care along the western boundary as the land here can be quite soft and boggy in places. All boundaries are marked indicatively in blue paint on trees and posts.
You are welcome to visit this wood by yourself - please take these sales details with you, and do remember to check that it is still available. If you have seen the woodland and wish to be accompanied on a second more detailed visit please contact our local manager.
