You are here: Home > Buying a Wood > North Wales > Coed Aber - SOLD
Coed Aber is a varied woodland with areas of young mixed woodland and some mature broadleaf woodland. Much of the young woodland is growing on a level site - rare in North Wales - with a sloping area of mature broadleaf woodland along one edge.
The wood has its own private hard-standing parking area alongside the minor road at the southern end. This provides enough space for a couple of cars or small vans. From here an old woodland path provides good foot access into the wood. Here a small derelict building can be found, and further along, a large level area that would be ideal for pitching tents and having a camp fire. The path continues, with footbridges crossing drainage ditches, providing access along the eastern boundary of the wood. Access to some areas is currently limited in places by dense vegetation and ditches.
This area of Wales was extensively mined for copper during the 19th century and water can be heard trickling down the opening of an old mine shaft - now safely fenced off - located just off the path at the southern edge of the wood. The mines are designated Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for the Lesser Horseshoe Bat that has recently undergone a severe decline in northern Europe.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
Boundaries: The western boundary is formed by the main road. The northern and eastern boundaries follow an old woodland track. The boundary to the south adjoins surrounding farm land and is fenced. All boundaries are marked in orange.
