Semi-natural ancient woodland with lots of beech, birch, oak with ash, hazel and larch which are semi-mature and ideal territory for birds as the woodland name suggests. The woodland is warm and south facing, situated on the valleyside above the River Wnion with glimpses between the trees of the wonderful views over to Cadair Idris in the distance. In spring there is a superb show of bluebells with wild garlic in places. Other small woodland flowers including wood sorrel are also found.
