Coed Cerrig Coch - Red Rock Wood, Gwynedd - Over 6 acres, £31,000

Coed Cerrig Coch - Red Rock Wood

Coed Cerrig Coch is a mixed woodland located near the village of Maentwrog, in the Snowdonia National Park.

The woodland contains a mixture of both broadleaf trees and conifers. These consist of areas of mature larch and spruce to the eastern end of the woodland, but also include areas of sweet chestnut, younger spruce and fir and an unusual small beech plantation right at the western boundary. The woodland also contains a rich flora including a diversity of mosses and lichens. The top of the woodland is fairly steeply sloping which in places provides some fine views across the valley. Towards the bottom of the woodland the ground is more level and there are some interesting old stone walls and the woodland has a more open feel.

Access is from the A487 along a good track up to the boundary of Coed Cerrig Coch. From here there is access into the wood down a track suitable for four wheel drive vehicles. At the end of this track there is a small parking or turning area. From here access can be gained into the rest of the woodland on foot.

The village closest to the woodland is Maentwrog where there is a pub, and further local facilities can be found in the nearby town Penrhyndeudreath.  The Coedydd Maentwrog National Nature Reserve is on the oppositie side of the valley, and also close by are the Castle town of Harlech, and the wild and isolated Rhinog mountain range.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
