You are here: Home > Buying a Wood > North Wales > Coed Hir - SOLD
Coed Hir is a secluded woodland in the county of Clwyd right up in the north east corner of Wales. It is surrounded by farmland and other private woodland on all sides and is close to both the river Dee and the towns of Corwen and Llangollen. Home of the International Musical Eisteddfod, Langollen has many attractions including its selection of busy pubs and restaurants and walks around the Langollen canal, a branch from the Shropshire Union Canal, and river Dee.
The by far the most dominant tree species in the woodland is the evergreen western hemlock with some strips of broadleaf trees along some of the boundaries including some hazel and birch. The wood is quite dense but this also gives the woodland a quite enclosed and private feel. The land is generally fairly sloping from the west edge down to the east edge, hence it faces to the east and could get good sun throughout the first half of the day. There are some great views of the surrounding countryside from the edge of the northern end of the woodland. A small stream forms the boundary at the southern end of the woodland making both an attractive and useful feature.
Just off the road, through the main entrance gate and slightly up the main access track there is a large parking area that the owners of Coed Hir are able to utilise - when viewing please park here and walk up to the woodland. Continuing from the car park, the owner of Coed Hir would be able to use the newly constructed and surfaced track to provide vehicle access right up to the southern edge of the woodland.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Take the A5 west out of Llangollen and towards Corwen. When you arrive in the village of Glyndyfrdwy take the right hand turn at the post office - sign posted Rhewl and Llantysilio. Continue over the railway line and turn right just after crossing the bridge over the river Dee. Continue for about half a mile and then take the first fork to the left. Continue for a further quarter mile and you will see the entrance to the woodland on the right with our sign on the gate. Go through the gate and up the track to the car park.
