You are here: Home > Buying a Wood > North Wales > Coed Twmpath - SOLD
Coed Twmpath is a broadleaf woodland with a mixture of trees, dominated by much young birch and also including some more mature hazel and oak with one particularly fine mature oak tree.
Access to the woodland is from the A496, through a gated entrance and then up a good track that is suitable for normal vehicle access only up to the first bend. From around here a grassy path branches off to the right to allow foot access to the northern end of the woodland. The main track continues and allows four wheel drive access further up past the first bend. At the top of the track there is a level parking area available to the owners of Coed Twmpath - this is marked in green on the plan. Where the track divides, access is also available up to the left to allow vehicles to turn.
The woodland faces to the north-east and slopes up fairly steeply from the road and eases off towards the southern end to then include much level ground. Here there is a very prominent mound that gives the woodland its name - Coed Twmpath which approximates to Woodland of the Mound or Hillock. On the top of the mound there is a small stone building that it is believed in the past was used as a hide for shooting. The building adds a very unusual aspect to the land and it could easily be converted into a useful woodland store. The stone walls of the building are in very good condition but the roof is in need of some repair. The internal dimensions are 10ft by 8ft with a 6ft high doorway and ceiling. The mound is also surrounded by a few old walls and ruined buildings.
The land also includes a small fenced field of about a quarter acre that is level at the bottom and then slopes gently further up. This field and some of the other level parts of the southern end of the woodland would make great areas for camping, some of these spots even have clear views towards the Afon Dwyryd estuary to the west.
The purchasers of the meadow will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Take the A496 out of Maentwrog and towards Harlech. After about two miles you will see a gated entrance and our sign board on the left. Continue along the main main road and you will find two large lay-bys on the right. Park here and walk back down the road to the gated entrance to gain access to the woodland.
