Coed y Glyn contains a diverse mix of conifers and native broadleaf trees. These are mainly larch, western hemlock and pine, but the woodland also includes areas of broadleaves including hazel and sweet chestnut.

The woodland could provide the ideal base for exploring the surrounding countryside. It is located only a few miles from the harbour town of Porthmadog. From here you could enjoy the scenery of the Vale of Ffestiniog by taking the historic railway to the slate-quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog. Penrhyndeudraeth, where the estuaries of two rivers meet, is also nearby, as is the famous Mediterranean style village of Porthmeirion.

Coed y Glyn is mainly sloping but also contains some flatter areas. The top of the woodland has excellent views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. The woodland also has its own private parking area.
