Drws Y Coed, Snowdonia National Park - Over 8½ acres, £29,000

Drws Y Coed

Drws y Coed is an incredibly diverse woodland:  much of the lower slopes of the woodland are covered by even-aged mixture of Beech and Larch, but also with larger and more mature trees dotted here and there. These include a few large and majestic beech trees and some quite mature Sweet Chestnuts. In the upper part of the wood the land is more level and is dominated by an expanse of Spruce trees.  Although this area has a dense and shady feel, the trees are well spaced, making it still very easy to walk through.  Towards the edge of this flatter area the canopy opens out and there are a few level areas that have great potential for quiet camping and woodland activities.  Close by, there is also a small area of coppiced Sweet Chestnut.  Along the edge of the top boundary stands a band of large oak trees - most probably the remnants of an ancient hedgerow. There are some great views from the wood, particularly from the eastern boundary where you can see all the way up the valley and to the mountains beyond.

From the gated parking area the access into the woodland is on foot. Walk down the minor road to the junction and then up a set of steps on the right-hand side of the road. From the top of the steps continue east along the woodland track for just over 100 yards. You will soon see the woodland on your right with purple boundary markings. If you follow the track passed Drws y Coed it continues through neighbouring woodland until you reach a wooden gate. The track then crosses open farmland and two metal gates and then meets the road. This provides an alternative access point to Drws y Coed.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
