Baggra Wood - About 10½ acres, £69,000

Baggra Wood

Description

In the Lake District National Park among the most fantastic scenery, Baggra Wood has a wild feel and is a place where tranquility, wildlife and far reaching views can all be enjoyed.  The imposing Lakeland Fells, including Binsey and Skiddaw, shoulder this smaller hillside to the east and west, Bassenthwaite Lake stretches away to the south.

Baggra Wood is easily accessed from the road via a sound track and there are two internal tracks.

The woodland has a mixed character with the main evergreen centre are clearings, old groups of oak, planted hardwoods, ancient coppice stools and a light and airy birch grove. This range of woodland habitat types provide opportunities for the wildlife which abounds throughout the woodland.

Hardwoods found include oak, ash, coppiced hazel, rowan, birch, sycamore and alder with soft woods predominantly made up of spruce and pine. The open areas although covered in bracken in summer give a good show of bluebells in the spring.  Other plants in the herb layer within the wood include pignuts, foxgloves, ferns and wood sorrel.  The wood also produces a fine array of fungi from late-summer.  Baggra Wood is suitable for various uses including family camping, craft-use, nature conservation or for simply to enjoy the exceptional location and surrounding fells.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
