Carr Fell is a fantastically beautiful and quiet piece of Lakeland Fell land. From one of the high points you will be able to see across the valley to Whitbarrow and the nature reserve located below it. A large pond is located in the centre of Carr Fell which provides a home for some birdlife and also gives character to the area. The pond may be suitable for the introduction of some Brown Trout or other coarse fish. The pond has a small steam flowing out of it and growing in and around the stream you will find water mint, sheep sorrel and plenty of mosses and lichens. Other plants growing on the fell include gorse, heather, hawthorn, larch and in the summer you may be lucky enough to see orchids. The whole area is interspersed with rock formations which provide great places to scramble over and hide behind. Carr Fell would be suitable for occasional family camping and would make a great conservation project.

The purchasers of the meadow will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Directions

Travelling west along the A590 turn right at the roundabout by the Newton bypass roadworks.
Please note the high Newton bypass will be open sometime in 2008 please check Highways Agency website for upto date information.
Continue on the A590 then turn right by the second Cartmell Fell direction sign at High Newton

At the junction in High Newton turn right next to the Inn
Take the next fork left, past the Lindale sign
Follow the road over the top of the hill and into valley, cross over the bridge at the bottom of the hill
Pass some recently felled woods on the left then fork left through a new closed wooden gate. Please close the gate after passing through
Proceed up the road for approximately 300 metres until you reach a track on your left.
Park on the grass verge and walk up the track until you reach the gate after approximately 200 metres.
Pass through these two gates and Carr Fell is approximately 150 metres up the track and to the left of the track . Please close the gates after passing through
The access track to Carr Fell is classed as a "boat" (byway open to all traffic).
