Dubwath Wood near to Bassenthwaite Lake represents a rare opportunity to own woodland in a very picturesque area. The fells of the Northern Lake District are close by, some within view from the wood. A beck with small pools and rocks flows through the woodland with some willow and alder and other water loving species growing on it’s banks.
There are two distinct areas, one made up of native broad leaved species including oak, ash, sycamore, hazel, birch and rowan and the other area a mix of Norway and sitka spruce. This conifer area is especially welcome for the shelter and fragrance it provides during the winter months and in it there are some small clearings which could be used for camping and other woodland based activities.
The woodland is on the National Inventory and is classified as 'Ancient Replanted' aka 'PAWS' (to see the map go to www.magic.gov.uk select interactive maps, topic = habitat inventories then put in the grid ref from these details)
Access is from the A591 along a woodland track, the owner of the woodland would be given a full right of access along this track, shown green on the plan.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
