Peel Wood is located in the north of the Lake District National Park amongst the most amazing scenery. There is good access into the wood from the A591 via a solid woodland track. Once inside you will be able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings which this woodland has to offer.
There are some interesting valley type formations within the woodland which add greatly to the character, these provide secluded areas which could be used for occasional camping, crafts or other woodland or conservation activities. A stream runs through the wood which is great for wildlife and adds to the diversity of species found within the woodland.
Many of the species you would expect to find in a Lakeland woodland can be found: towards the back of the wood close to the stream a wide variety of mainly hardwood species are growing including oak, ash, birch, sycamore, willow, holly, rowan, alder, elm, hawthorn and hazel. The section nearest to the road has been planted with softwoods, mainly Norway and sitka spruce and are growing well. The ground flora includes wood sorrel and bluebells with plenty of ferns, mosses and lichen and many more plants will doubtless emerge in the spring to be discovered by new owners.
The woodland is on the National Inventory and is classified as 'Ancient Replanted' aka 'PAWS' (to see the map go to www.magic.gov.uk select interactive maps, topic = habitat inventories then put in the grid ref from these details)
The owners will be given a full right of access to use the track into the wood shown green on the plan.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
