Gower Wood is a young, planted woodland with road frontage and sweeping south-westerly views across the Duisk and Luce fells. It comprises of sitka spruce and hybrid larch together with some oak, rowan, alder, ash, cherry and birch all planted in 1999 and attracts an annual income until 2009 of about £350 from the Farm Woodland Premium Scheme. The trees lie on a gentle upward slope and there is some open ground along the western and southern roadside boundaries. The private track and parking area in the north-east corner is linked, via a rough path, to a pretty camping area down towards the centre of the wood.

Access is via a shared gate and track up to the north-east corner where there is an entrance in the Galloway stone dyke wall to the left. There is also an old gate entrance along the road frontage.

Directions: Take the A714 from Barrhill, heading south. The wood is situated on your left, about 4km from Barrhill. Look
out for the 'Woodlands for Sale' sign on your left, and park just beyond in the
entrance.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
