This most peaceful, attractive and very private wood is set in a semi-ancient woodland area known as Combwell Woods. It is surrounded by fields on three sides, giving it the feel of a woodland set on its own. The proximity to the fields helps encourage wildlife, such as birds and butterflies, into the wood.
The wood has a large number of oaks and ash dispersed throughout, as well as chestnut, hazel and ash coppice. A good stream runs partly well inside the wood, and then along the west side. The wood gently slopes towards the south west, and has in it a great clearing which can be used for many woodland activities. There are no public rights of way through the wood and sporting rights are included. Like the adjoining woodlands Ash Wood is within an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). It is also very close to Bedgebury Pinetum, which is well worth a visit.
The owner of Ash Wood will have vehicle rights of way along the tracks on the map marked in green.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Directions
- From Lamberhurst travel south along the A21.
- 1 mile after passing the Little Chef (closed) and after joining the dual carriageway turn left onto the B2079 (Lady Oak Lane) to Bedgebury and Goudhurst.
- Go about 1 ½ miles along the B 2079 (on the way you will pass the new entrance to Bedgebury Pinetum on your right), and turn left into Rogers Rough Road.
- After about 1/3 mile you will reach two wooden gates on your left, marked Combwell Wood.
- Park here-please do not block any entrance.
- Walk through the wooden double gates and down the stoned track for 160 meters where the track reaches the field.
- Go straight ahead along the track, over a metal gate, keeping the barn on you left and walk down the track, over a stream .
- Keep walking (now uphill) along the track, taking a right fork, then a left fork.
- You will then arrive at Ash Wood where the track nearly meets the field to the south. ( In all about 600 meters from the road ).
- You can then walk into Ash Wood along a track going south, inside Ash Wood.
- You will find a woodland clearing in Ash Wood, about 180 meters on the right hand side, along this track.
