Cathdral Wood is a very accessible yet quiet woodland, which has two main sections, separated by a woodbank. The northern section, about 2 acres, is broadleaf woodland, with some chestnut coppice, lots of young birch, and a number of thriving oak trees not yet at maturity. The larger southern section of the wood is mostly 35 -year old larch and spruce with some oaks. A track has been cleared through some of the wood, and it could be easily be extended further into the centre of the wood. Opportunities are certainly here to create more clearings and, if an owner wished, with the appropriate felling licence, clear and replant larger parts of the wood. There are a number of small timber stacks throughout the wood that provide useful refuges for many insects. Cathedral Wood lies within the very large Old Park Wood Site of Nature Conservation Interest identified by Kent Wildlife Trust. This recognises the special value of the wood for nature conservation, but does not imply any statutory obligations or any loss of privacy.
Cathedral Wood is approached along a good all weather track, and the owner of Cathedral Wood will have vehicle rights of way along the tracks on the map marked in green.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
