Cats Wood is a good example of traditional Kentish woodland, and an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). Many fine mature oaks are found throughout, along with chestnut and hazel coppice under storey. The tracks bordering the wood together with the two internal tracks provide excellent access to most parts of the wood. The eastern side of the wood is very secluded and faces a wide "water wayleave" allowing dappled sunlight to come through the trees. There is currently no plan to sell or change this open space, though it may (or may not) be mown. The owner of Cats Wood will have full rights of way along tracks shown in green on the attached map.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Directions

Go south along the A21, after bypassing Lamberhurst you will reach a Little Chef on the left-hand side. Park in the Little Chef car park and the wood entrance gate (marked Combwell Project) is just south of the car park. Go over the stile at the gate and Cats Wood is about 50 metres in front of you.
