The trees in Gauge Wood are mainly pine, both Scots and Corsican. They are about 35 years old, so they are stately and trouble-free . On the north side is a really good clearing, a place readymade for picnics. There are some young birch and chestnut coppice on its edges. It is a joy to be able to sit in this quiet clearing and watch the wildlife. On the south side there is a wide access track bringing lots of light into the wood. From their footprints throughout this, and surrounding woodland, it is clear deer are quite frequent visitors. The wood lies within Limekiln and Park Wood and is approached along a good all weather stoned access track.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
