You are here: Home > Buying a Wood > South East England > Inner Saunders Wood - SOLD
Inner Saunders Wood is actually three woods in one. From the access track, one first encounters the chestnut coppice, traditionally providing wood for fencing posts and firewood. Behind this to the right is an area of the very finest conifers, Douglas fir, which will in time become a valuable crop. And to the left is a plantation of well established young oak trees, with potential for the creation of a magnificent grove of mature oaks.
This is an Ancient semi-natural Woodland, with an old wood bank just inside its southern boundary, preserving a number of old beeches, as well as holly. It is interesting to find also the cant markers, chestnut stools that have been cut off about two feet from ground level, indicating the boundary of a specific area for cutting the coppice. Amongst the coppice and the fir trees are lovely clear secluded areas. Inner Saunders Wood is part of Brewers Wood, and lies in the High Weald AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).
The owner of Inner Saunders Wood will have vehicle rights of way along the tracks on the map marked in green.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
