Latch Wood is a classic ancient woodland with some fine mature oaks, along with hornbeam, hazel, holly, hawthorn and birch. Open areas in the wood allow light to stream in, showing off a wonderful display of bluebells and wood anemones in spring.
The west side of the wood is very private and peaceful, with a wood bank on the boundary, and great views across farmland. The east side adjoins the Woodland Trust’s renowed Dering Wood, which is recorded as having more than 25 species of butterfly, as well as dormice and nightingales. Like many local woodlands Latch Wood benefits from a tree preservation order, which ensures the preservation of this woodland and the neighbouring woodlands, as does the Article IV designation. Shooting rights are included in the sale.
The owner of Latch Wood will have full vehicle right of way along the track marked in Green on the map, as well as the tracks within Latch Wood, which enable good access to all parts of the wood.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
