Lower Bish Wood is Ancient Woodland, and within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are two very contrasting areas within the wood. Running the length of the wood alongside the main track are both Norway Spruce and Western Hemlock, planted some 40 years ago, whilst, tucked in behind them on the eastern side of the wood, is an extensive area of chestnut coppice with some oak and ash. The internal track enables good access to the chestnut coppice and an attractively secluded area overlooking the adjacent fields. There is a short section of quite a vigorous stream running through the south-west corner of the wood. We have often spotted deer passing through this wood on several occasions.
There is a Tree Preservation Order on Lower Bish Wood and surrounding woodlands.
The owner of Lower Bish Wood will have vehicle rights of way along the track marked AC.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
Boundaries: The boundaries of the wood are indicated with GREEN markings.
