Lunar Wood is Ancient Woodland, and within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Such a large, peaceful and somewhat remote wood is not often available in this area. It is accessed from the road by a long and splendidly wide stoned track. The wood, gently sloping down to the west, has three rather different areas. The eastern part is mainly chestnut, of which about 4 acres has been coppiced in the last three years. The sunlight on the woodland floor, from this recent coppicing, will help in the re- emergence of wild flowers that for many years will have been dormant under the maturing coppice. The southern part of Lunar Wood partly overlooks farmland, and has many mature oaks within it. Bluebells in particular seem to thrive here, under a canopy of oak, chestnut, ash, hazel, cherry, holly, and hornbeam. The north and west parts of the wood are mainly young oak and birch.
There is a Tree Preservation Order on Lunar Wood and surrounding woodlands.
The owner of Lunar Wood will have vehicle rights of way along tracks ADHJ and .JW.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
