Solar Wood is Ancient Woodland, and within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Facing broadly south and west, it gets sunshine for most of the day, and is about as sunny as a wood with so many mature oaks and lots of chestnut coppice can be. In addition, there are areas where some clearings could be enlarged, much to the advantage of the flowers and butterflies. The eastern section of the wood has an area of chestnut coppice, which would certainly benefit from coppicing quite soon. The western section is more open, and also includes some birch, beech and ash. On several occasions we have spotted deer in this wood, no doubt because it is it is quiet and tucked away. A small seasonal stream runs through part of the wood. There is a Tree Preservation Order on Solar Wood and surrounding woodlands.

The owner of Solar Wood will have vehicle rights of way along tracks ABENP.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Directions

Travelling south on the A22 and just north of Uckfield take the A 272 going east.
On the A 272 go through Buxted and at the very top of the village turn right into a lane signposted to Framfield.
After about 1/3 mile and take a left fork signposted to Framfield.
After about ¾ mile go past a turning on your right signposted to Buxted.
Keep going straight on along Shepherds Hill for a further 60 metres, and you will reach a red single bar metal forest gate on your left, next to a ‘Woodlands for Sale’ sign.
Park alongside this gate but please do not block it or the lane. There is further space to park about 50 metres up the lane on the left, by the stream bridge,
This single bar forest gate is the entrance to the wood at point A.
Go round the gate and walk up to the end of the stone track, which is about 600 metres. Continue straight ahead on the grassy track for another 180 metres to point E.
Turn right up another track. Solar wood will be on your right after a further 90 metres.
