What a great wood! From the magnificent old Scots pine, oak, chestnut, beech and birch standards, to the carpets of bluebells and other flowers in the spring, there is so much in this wood to enjoy. It has a private feel, tucked away at the very end of a good stoned track. Tun Wood has that sense of almost being a ‘wildwood’, and is a joy to wander through. The fields that surround it on two sides, greatly help bring a varied wildlife into the wood. If the areas of hazel and chestnut coppice were periodically harvested, this would encourage even more wildlife. In the immediate area, we believe there are Goldcrest, Chiff Chaff, Great Tit, Coal Tit, Wren, Song Thrush, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Sparrow hawk and Buzzard. Although a public footpath crosses Tun Wood, it seems to be little used.
Tun Wood is part of Brewers Wood, considered to be Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland, and lies in the High Weald AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).
The owner of Tun Wood will have vehicle rights of way along the tracks on the map marked in green.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
