You are here: Home > Buying a Wood > West and South Wales > Allt Wen- Fair Hillside
Allt Wen has a wonderful mix of trees throughout and two good tracks which run through the entire length of the woodland. The first part is native Broadleaves of varying ages and in contrast further along there are cool dark areas with a maze of conifer trees and plenty of mosses underfoot. Two small streams run through Allt Wen, one of which forms the North Eastern boundary and is spring-fed from further up the hill. Where the water joins the woodland there is a grove of Silver Birches and Cherry trees. There are woodlands either side of Allt Wen and the whole of the North and South edges boarder meadowland so the surrounding area is very rural and tranquil. There are some magnificent trees dotted through out this woodland: look out for the huge Ash tree on the lower track and several mature Oak trees which line the way along the top.
In Spring the woodland floor is strewn with Bluebells, Wood Anenomes and Celendine. The diversity of this woodland ensures that the area is rich with wildlife throughout the year
Allt Wen is part of a larger woodland which would have been part of the `Plas` estate, centred around a large mansion house situated in Llansteffan, a picturesque coastal village a couple of miles away. The woodland has a large shared car parking area and turning bay.
Both Carmarthen and St. Clears are close by and the M4 is very easy to reach from here.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
Boundaries: The boundaries of this woodland are marked with peach coloured paint.

From Carmarthen take the A40 towards St. Clears. After a few miles look out for a brown sign on the left which reads "Coomb Cheshire Home". Turn left here and keep following the signs to Coomb Cheshire home. Go past the Wern Inn and up the hill, passing Coomb Chesire home on the left, go down the hill and straight over the cross-roads. Follow the road around and look out for the WOODLANDS FOR SALE sign on the gate on the left. This is the entrance to the woodland. A little further down the lane there is a layby where you may park whilst visiting the woodland.
