Allt Ysgubog is situated on the soft gradient of a South facing hillside.  It is an old Oak woodland with an understory of Hazel, which has been planted with spruce about fifty years ago. There are also some fine Ash, Holly and Hawthorn edging trees throughout. As well as having good road access, a track runs through the length of the woodland. There is an interesting old, flat quarry, framed with huge and unusual rock which is tucked away but still near to the entrance. This would make an ideal spot for camping and car parking. 

This woodland is home to many songbirds and woodpeckers and there is evidence of Badger and Fox activity. Wildflowers include  Bluebells, St. Johns Wort and  Herb Robert.  There is also a variety of interesting Fungi in the Autumn

Allt Ysgubog would make a great conservation project or just a private woodland retreat.

Allt Ysgubog would once have been part of the old `Plas` estate centred around the large mansion house in the picturesque village of Llansteffan, which is only a couple of miles away.  Also nearby are the larger towns of St. Clears and Carmarthen.
