Coed Syfni - SOLD, Pembrokeshire - Nearly 4 acres, £35,000

Coed Syfni - SOLD

You enter this woodland via an all-weather stone track.  Situated along this track is a ride stop, indicating the entrance to this woodland. From this point onwards the track is part of the woodland providing good access and lots of space to park vehicles.

Woodland extends above the track forming a sloping bank of conifers. It also extends below the track where it slopes down to a river which forms the northern boundary of the woodland. The two sides of the track show a contrasting assemblage of trees, with the right hand side composed of deciduous ash, sycamore and hazel while the left hand side has firs and larches. After 150 metres the track widens onto an open glade.

The glade provides a lovely flat light area for picnicking, camping and other leisure activities. In the summer months it is a real suntrap and provides habitat for woodland and grassland butterflies.

Just past the glade there is an opening in the trees into the woodland. This part of the woodland has a very secluded feel, the silence interrupted by woodland birds chattering in the canopy above. This area consists of mainly Douglas fir and larch originally planted for harvest, with a smattering of deciduous trees.  Zigzagging its way through the wood from the west is a second watercourse which joins the river at the northern boundary.  This river has lots of flat access points, perfect for a tranquil camping retreat or for watching wildlife.

Coed Syfni is part of a larger planted area of woodland known as Drim Wood located in the village of Gelli. The Eastern Cleddau runs along the eastern stretch of Drim Wood and boasts good Sea Trout fishing. The small town of Llandissilio, located on the A478 roughly 3 miles away, offers local amenities. Gelli is located 5miles from the town of Narberth, home to Oakwood Theme Park. It is also about a 20 minute drive from Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire’s county town. The Landsker Borderlands Trail, a 60 mile circular trail which explores the rural area on the Pembrokeshire-Carmarthen border, skims the western edge of Gelli.  Most notably Coed Syfni is located within 5 miles of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, which takes in about a third of the county including the entire coastal strip. It's the only National Park that is almost entirely coastal.  The Wildlife Trust of West and South Wales manages some of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park’s important wildlife sites such as Skomer Islands, famous for their seabird populations (guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and puffins) and Atlantic grey seals.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Directions

Coed Syfni lies a few miles north of the A40 between Haverfordwest (10 miles) and St Clears (10 miles). From the A40 take the A478 North for about two miles. Just after you enter Clunderwen and before you reach the 30mph zone turn left signposted Maenclochog. Follow this road for approx 2.5 miles. Turn left onto road signposted Gelli and follow this round for 0.2 miles, over two stone bridges. The woodland entrance is approximately 100 metres past the second bridge.

After turning off the road you turn into Drim Wood and onto a stone track suitable for a two wheel drive vehicle. This track is a marked bridle way with public right of way. Continue down this track until you reach a cross roads. You will see a set of wooden gates and a ridestop to your right marked with “woodlands for sale” signboards on them; access to this woodland is via the left hand ridestop. Continue up this track until it opens up into a large hardstanding area with a stone quarry, this is where you will need to park.

To get to the woodland you will have to walk up the gated track that is directly in front of you and the entrance to the woodland is clearly marked approximately 500 meters up.
