Are you thinking of selling your woodland?

Selling a woodland to us

Please consider selling to us - here are five good reasons why you might want to:

1) We will pay a good price: if we are interested in the wood and the price seems reasonable we will pay the going rate. We are always interested in woods with features such as streams and ponds, in woods that have good access and in woods which will split naturally. However we will consider anything!

2) It will be well looked after while under our management. We spend a considerable amount of money on woodland management and improvement and we try to be active, conservation-minded managers. For any parts of woods which we sell we try to sell to people who are like-minded. So far, having sold hundreds of woods we have not had any purchaser who has seriously mis-managed their wood; of course there have been many different approaches to management, but we are convinced that virtually all of our purchasers have cared for, contributed to, and enjoyed their woodlands more than the previous generation of owners did. If you sell us your wood it is going to a good home!

3) We can make a quick decision as to whether we are interested. Usually within a week, sometimes up to three weeks. Often within five minutes.

4) If we agree to buy it the sale will go through quickly and we will not pull out. We have an impeccable record of not pulling out of woodland purchases once we have agreed to them.

5) We are easy to deal with. We are friendly and straightforward. Purchasing decisions are made by a committee of two (Richard Scholfield and Angus Hanton). Richard sometimes thinks that's one too many!

If you want us to look at buying your woodland we will need two things:

a) a clear plan;
b) an indicative price. Any more information is welcome, but is not necessary.

Reselling woodlands bought from us

If you have bought your woodland from us and have decided you need to sell (perhaps to release cash or perhaps because you are moving away) then we are keen to help. We can either buy it back from you or we can resell it for you. Which route is best will depend on several factors, but please give us a ring to discuss it - the best person to phone is Richard Scholfield on 07811 818 277. When we have bought back we have usually been able to pay the original price or more and similarly when acting as agent have often on resale realised a small profit for the vendor.
