hello,been a pale maker or paling maker since i was 15 now 45 so i know a bit about da game,done hurdles n rose arches even done larves for proper old national trust plasterin wit horsehair n stuff,targets for bow n arrows anything,posts rails,wat ya want,yet earn no money,wat do ya do,got skills ray mears dreams of with splitting tools,all the best,dyin trade its dead

I remember well seeing this type of paling everywhere when I was growing up in the suburbs of Birmingham back in the 60′s, I remember it as being quite grey in colour so presumably, it changes colour with age like most natural untreated woods exposed to sunlight.
I never knew how it was made until I watched this video so I’m delighted to see the process in action.
