The BSA teaches the “Overhand Noose” or the “Running Loop Knot” in Cub Scouts (refer to Bear Handbook for tying illustrations). I can only think of 4 other noose knots that would work about the same but would take more time and experience to tie.
NOTE: People who ask me to teach them how to tie the hangman’s noose, are ether just expanding their tying skills or looking for counseling. I hope you will find the type help you need.
