Brights Wood, Gloucestershire - Almost 6 ¼ acres, £95,000

Brights Wood
Brights Wood
Gloucestershire

Mixed habitat of classic broadleaf woodland, sheltered clearings and far reaching views across neighbouring countryside.

As sunlight filters through the the mature beach, ash and oak, it stimulates the growth of young bluebells, wood anemone and wood sorrel on the forest floor. The wood emerging into spring is a glorious array of green shoots growing from the leaf litter. The 'Gallant Soldier' of the daisy family is said to be useful in the treatment of injury and for flavouring in cooking, having originally been introduced to this country from Peru.

Wildlife

Woodland habitat of the type found at Brights Wood and the surrounding woodland is a crucial refuge for wildlife in the face of increasing agricultural demand. This important buffer provides habitat for wild flowers and grasses along the tracks and clearings, supporting a variety of insects and birds that would otherwise be in decline. For the new owner it also affords fantastic camping opportunities to awaken to the extensive views through the woodland to distant rolling hills beyond.

Features

Tucked away, in a secluded part of a larger area of private woodland there are some delightful hidden clearings awaiting discovery, where elevated level areas of well drained woodland give way to the gentle sloping ground that affords such wonderful views. Brights Wood is an ideal spot for nature lovers to enjoy some isolation from the world outside and to observe at close quarters the wildlife that flourishes in this environment.

Access, tracks and footpaths

Brights Wood is located towards the end of a recently restored length of woodland track that wends its way through surrounding woodland and as such offers excellent access for vehicles. There is a suitable parking area within the boundary of Brights Wood before unmade tracks and pathways lead further under the tree cover.

A rural footpath runs along the access track and the south boundary of the wood and is a great access point for exploring the open countryside to the west.

Rights and covenants

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.

Local area and history

The enchanting rural area around the wood has many other local landmarks of note, including Brights Hill itself from which the wood takes its name. This nearby local feature of the surrounding countryside is a great vantage point from which to enjoy views of the rolling agricultural heartlands of Gloucestershire.
