Culver Wood - SOLD, Hampshire - Nearly 4 ¾ acres, £65,000

Culver Wood - SOLD

Culver Wood is a strikingly attractive level area of mixed woodland that offers great interest for both the owner and resident wildlife. A towering canopy of mature pine gives way to grassy clearings flanked by birch, ash and alder and some veteran examples of large oak and beech. These clearings are vital elements for supporting numerous species of woodland insects and woodland flowers and the beginning for many and varied food chains as the grassy areas attract a range of butterfly caterpillars which feed on the grasses and in turn become tempting treats for the woodland birds.

Sika, Munjac, Roe and Fallow deer are also at ease in this environment, able to browse in relative seclusion in the dense forest. Foxes and badgers can enjoy the abundant insects and rodents that populate this fertile ground.

Originally part of the local manor, some of the old trees still remain including some mighty oak and beech. There is also holly and hawthorn along with occasional young hazel adding interest and density to the understory between the winding animal tracks that pass through the wood. The name Culver is derived from the Latin for dove, which was an Old English term of endearment.

Surrounding the woodland is the stunning natural environment of The New Forest National Park. Visitors come from many miles to enjoy this protected landscape and enjoy the numerous visitor attractions nearby. This area also provides easy access to the amenities of Southampton and the maritime delights of the south coast.

These details and plans were prepared by local manager Daniel Sharp.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
