Grebe Wood - SOLD, Hampshire - About 3 ¼ acres, £49,000

Grebe Wood - SOLD
Grebe Wood - SOLD
Hampshire

A fine example of a classic English oak woodland where nature thrives in all its glory.

Grebe Wood is easily accessible along a newly renovated length of woodland track leading directly to a woodland clearing at the entrance to the wood. There is plenty of space to park here within the boundaries of Grebe Wood and continue the exploration of this attractive woodland sheltered beneath the generous canopy of predominantly mature oak trees that are such a classic symbol of English woodland.

Once within the wood the ground is well drained and firm underfoot. Level ground makes for easy access throughout and the gentle mounds of ancient banks can be made out at various points running through the wood between clusters of holly and hazel coppice that provide important diversity at various points throughout Grebe Wood.

A large attractive lake lies just a couple of hundred metres from the southern boundary of the woodland. This lake is also privately owned and its proximity to the boundary of Grebe Wood is a tremendous draw for wildlife of all types. From the rich insect life that thrives on the wetland fringes to the migratory game birds that seek respite here on the long journey north /south. In particular there are regular sighting of the now elusive woodcock and the Little Grebe from which the woodland takes its name. These birds are attracted by the thick woodland cover around bodies of water such as exists here. Larger mamels include three species of deer, fallow, roe and munjac as well as foxes and badgers.

The nearby village of Rotherwick offers a friendly welcome at the village pubs if staying overnight to complete a woodland project. Hook is only a couple of minutes drive and for more specialist woodland tools and supplies Basingstoke is within easy reach in this most accessible yet peaceful woodland location.

These details were prepared by local manager Daniel Sharp.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
