Greenmoor Wood, Oxfordshire - Nearly 5 acres, £65,000

Greenmoor Wood

Greenmoor Wood encapsulates all the best elements of a typical English woodland. There is a rewarding mix of mature and young broadleaves from the young hazel, holly and ash that occupy the developing understorey to the towering beech and oak that dominate the canopy. It is evident that in the recent past the woodland has been the subject of some management with the young oaks planted approximately twenty years ago now forming an important addition, sustaining other wildlife and plant life.

The ground here is level and well drained. Spring flowers give way later in the year to an interesting variety of woodland grasses that flourish in the sunny glades, such as the Wood Melick which thrives on chalky soil and provides important browsing for roe and muntjac deer.

Greenmoor Wood takes its name from an area of the same name at nearby Woodcote, or cottage in the woods.

There is little essential management required but scope for further planting according to the interests of a new owner and the woodland is now ready to enjoy as a family camping retreat or a source of wood fuel for the home if required.

Greenmoor wood is accessed directly from the highway via its own private gateway from where an open ride leads into a series of delightful clearings.

Parts of this area have a proud wartime heritage from their use as an RAF supply depot during the second world war, before being decommissioned and returned to nature. The wood is set in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty a designation which recognises the beauty of the area, characterised by extensive beech woodlands and chalk hills.

Particulars and plans were prepared by our local manager, Daniel Sharp.

The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
