Nightjar Wood - SOLD, Hampshire - About 4 acres, £49,000

Nightjar Wood - SOLD

Nightjar Wood has an appealing eerie atmosphere with dense towering firs eclipsing the outside world and creating the feel of a return to the realm of nature. This is where the creatures dwell... and the world beyond is now forgotten.

A walk through the woods fills the senses with the sights and sounds of the forest. From the half light of the interior the fresh kill of the fox lies hidden behind the roots of a fallen tree. Foraging tracks of badger and deer traverse the woodland floor and the shrill cry of the buzzard hangs on the breeze. The sun from the south east draws you in the direction of the long boundary to open fields and here the warm light penetrates into the wood and spawns a rich mixture of woodland grasses and flowers along this boundary.

The wood is named after the bird which enjoys an almost supernatural reputation for its silent flight and stealth.

Nightjar Wood also has areas of more conventional mixed broadleaf and so there is truly something here that represents the full range of woodland habitat.

The surrounding area has a host of other attractions. Southampton offers everything one might expect from a major regional centre by way of goods and services. The sea is within easy reach and it is but a few minutes drive to where the village of Bucklers Hard reminds the visitor of the proud maritime history of the area. The nearby village of Beaulieu is of course synonymous with the National Motor Museum located here.
